Leveraging Linkedin and Your Networking Relationships

Linkedin

Networking should always be purposeful. As much as we might like to socialize, we are attending networking events to grow our business. We all know, the best way to grow business is through building relationships. To solidify the relationship, we schedule a one on one sessions and meet for coffee learn more about each others’ respective businesses. Our goal: to get referrals – right? We ask them; “Who do you know that might be a good introduction for me, or can use my products and services?” and typically they scratch their head and say, “I can’t think of anyone at the moment, but I will keep you in mind should I meet someone who is looking” – Not exactly the most productive meeting, and now we have invested at least 2 precious hours including travel time, and $5 bucks on a cup of joe. Create a Referral Network that Truly Pays in Dividends!

Create a Referral Network that Truly Pays in Dividends!

How do you create a network of referrals that will become a consistent and regular part of your business development & growth?

The answer is simple: Give referrals!

The basic premise is that when you reach out and offer help, you are immediately building trust and developing a positive reputation among your network of business professionals. Business professionals will see you as wanting to help them and in turn, they will want to do the same. My general rule of thumb is to make two introductions for every person that you meet, you will soon find that you begin to get the referrals.

Nine Emerging Minitrends to Watch for in 2011

By: David Carter, President – Scramjet Strategies

There are many opportunities for those who are alert enough to recognize emerging trends, perceptive enough to realize their importance, and clever enough to take advantage of them. Here are nine Minitrends--emerging trends that will become significantly important within 2-5 years, but are not yet generally recognized--that are well worth examining for possible action by those ambitious individuals who seek to start new ventures or keep existing businesses innovative and competitive.

Unlike megatrends, Minitrends are of a scope and importance to offer attractive opportunities to individual entrepreneurs, decision-makers in small and mid-size businesses, innovative thinkers in large companies, and adventuresome investors. In his new book, MINITRENDS: How Innovators & Entrepreneurs Discover & Profit from Business & Technology Trends, John Vanston categorizes the nine Minitrends below to those most applicable to different-sized groups.
